It all started when I asked my mom about illustrating a book that I was writing. I was out raking the leaves in the back yard when my sister’s ducks came waddling by. I stopped what I was doing to watch them. That’s when I thought, “What would the world look like from a duck’s perspective?” So I decided to write a book about it. I haven’t finished it yet, but while I was in the process, I asked my mom what she thought about me having my sister (who is an amazing artist) illustrate the book for me. That’s when she said the thing that kickstarted my art career, “You should do it”.
I was, needless to say, very skeptical.
But in November of 2017, I did my first painting, Misty Misty Night. It wasn’t half bad! After that, it took me awhile to figure out what style of art I wanted to paint. I went from impressionistic to abstract and everywhere in between before I finally settled on what is now my tag line: Striving to Capture Reality. My goal in my paintings is for my viewers to wonder if it is a photo they are looking at or a painting.
I was born in Slapout, Alabama in 1997, but my artistic career, as above outlined, didn’t start until November 2017. In my lifetime, I have always admired people that could paint: Bob Ross, Thomas Kinkade, Andrew Tischler, just to name a few. When I first started, I had not the slightest clue as to what I wanted to paint. So I tried everything under the sun, and failed a lot. As you can imagine, I was very frustrated. But as you may have guessed, I did finally paint something that showed a little potential. That is when I thought to myself. “You know what? I see potential here.”…and the rest is history.
